Rogue River Fishing Conditions 7/29/2014:

After a tough few days – bite seemed to pick up a little today.  More fish (and more bigger fish) were caught today than in the prior few days.  The 15#’er above was caught on a green and yellow spinner just above the Isaac Lee Patterson Bridge (and I must say – the man handling the fish was a real pro!).

Fishing looks pretty promising for the near future – don’t forget to check your calendar and book your dates today!

Current Rogue River Fishing Conditions: Rain didn’t help…mostly.

Current Rogue River Fishing Conditions:

The rain yesterday cooled off the bay and a bunch of fish took off upriver.  With the wind today, and many of the fish taking off upriver – it was definitely tough fishing.  Although – not tough enough for Larry Bakin:

Current Rogue River Fishing Conditions:

Howdy howdy fisherpeople!  Chinooks are stacking up in the bay daily – while some are taking off up river, most of the fish will stack up and wait for cooler water to come down.  Current water temperature at Agness is around 76 F, so the salmon prefer to mostly hang where the cooler ocean water mixes with the warm river water.  Fish are starting to be caught fairly consistently on plain anchovies or spinner bait rigs, with some even being caught on non-baited spinners.  Chartreuse/Green/Yellow seems to be the color of choice.  Fishing is still a little slow, but is picking up and will only get better for the next month or so.  20-25 pounders are pretty normal with bigger fish being caught at times.  Saw one 35lb+ fish pulled in yesterday afternoon.  Hearing reports that summer steelhead are in full swing side-drifting roe (I really need to get up there and check out tuna balls!).  There are some salmon night-running upstream, but most are still holding in the bay.  Have one report that there are a lot of salmon sitting off-shore in the ocean waiting to come in.  Haven’t heard any definitive counts, but it does look promising in the near future as these fish continue to move into the bay.

Rogue River Conditions – Fishing slow but expected to pick up soon

Current Rogue River Fishing Conditions:  Fishing has been slow on the Rogue, but the water temperature is rising and the fish are beginning to hold in the bay. I expect fishing to pick up dramatically over the next few weeks.  Come on down and join the fun – we’ve got beautiful brand new Lamiglas Certified Pro Kwik rods and brand new Abu Garcia reels that are just begging to help you reel in your next salmon!
