Rogue River Fishing Conditions 3/8/2015
Well folks,
With these storms coming in right now, and the river elevating – we’re kind of at a standstill until we get a break in the weather. I anticipate at the end of these storms we should get an influx of fish as the river goes back down to normal flow rates – it should be an exciting time for Springers! The predictions for this year are mixed – there are some who are saying the drought 3 years ago is going to affect our return and survival rates – and then there are some who are pushing those effects off for another year. I’m mixed – the ocean conditions were not ideal, but the estimates for other rivers seem to be slightly above average and I see no reason for the Rogue not to be within these same margins. I expect a decent year with some bigger fish coming in late July/August.
Not a lot of springers have been caught as of yet – the weather and the river aren’t cooperating fully (and the beginning of the main run is still 3 weeks away). Expect that to change after this last period of storms dissipate. Bookings are beginning to fill up – so to ensure you get your chance at some of the best tasting and best fighting fish on the West Coast – book as soon as you can and we’ll work hard to get you into them! Thanks for keeping up!
Hook ’em hard!
