Rogue River Salmon Fishing 6-17-2019 (Rogue River Salmon Fishing)

Well, first things first – I did not realize how longs it’s been since I did a status update here. Most of my updates are on my Facebook/FishChinook site, and I apologize for not keeping this one quite as up to date. That being said – trolling in the bay has begun again 🙂 After what seemed like an extended spring with brief interruptions of a teasing summer, it seems the summer has finally decided to stay a while. The water in the Rogue has finally warmed up enough to keep fish holding in the bay, and it should be a matter of days before they start to really stack up.

The water itself is still pretty murky. Dark with a lot of particulates suspended – I suspect many fish will be suspended in the deeper holes, but that’s really anybody’s guess – the fish will do what fish do.

New Equipment:  we’ve upgraded the boat to forward steering on the big motor. Upgraded the electronics to include Garmin’s Panoptix system of LIVE sonar (yes, that means we can watch the fish swim). And upgraded the reels to the Shimano Tekota LC’s. I’m pretty happy with all of them.

The forecast is for a pretty solid year as far as numbers of salmon go. Limit is still 2 adults and 5 jacks. I expect to fishing deep into October, but we’ll see where we’re at when October gets here. Until then, if you’re looking for a good time fishing for salmon – book a day on the calendar and come on down (or up, depending….). 🙂
